Easter Eggs
What are Easter Eggs? They are secret elements or novelties that take a careful eye to discover.

For example, in Raiders of the Lost Ark when Indiana Jones lifts the stone covering the ark, look carefully at the pillar behind him and you will see R2 and C-3PO from Star Wars carved into it!

If you're a big movie fan like Rick and Bobo, then you may notice the hidden movie lines and references. The authors often incorporate movie lines into their conversations just to see if the other will catch it. Many lunches have been won as a result.

But you don't have to be a movie fanatic to spot the clues that point to future super powers and sequel plot lines. You may even discover the line of dialog that will also be used as the last line of dialog in the series!

If you spotted a movie line or something you think is a clue or hidden part of the story, post it here. I'll get you started. Did you notice the symbols at the top of each chapter? Do you know what they mean?

At the beginning of the book, Rick says a line that Jeff Goldblum said in both Jurassic Park and Independence Day. Can you find it?

By the way, anyone remember the infamous Datsun Incident? Well, like many parts of the characters past, it really happened! Here is Rick in the same garage rebuilding another engine a few years after the Datsun Incident. Yes, that's a hacksaw he's holding!

  1. Hi again! I don't know the jeff goldblum line, but I figured out the chapter headings! I want others to be able to figure it on their own, it's more fun. But I want to prove I got it, so the keyword is...SNEAKERS!
  2. Sneakers? I didn't really notice the headings. I thought they might be letters are first, but then they didn't make sense. It means something, huh? I'll have to check that out. But I got the Goldblum line. He said "Must go faster" in Jurassic Park when the T-Rex was chasing them in the Jeep, and again at the end of Independence Day when he and Wil Smith were flying out of the mother ship. Rick said it at the beginning of the book when he was trying to catch up to Ray!! I got that as soon as I read it, made me laugh out loud.
  3. great job guys! You got it Shelly!! Nice job deciphering the headings, and figuring out what movie the line went with! Not easy to do. And Sean, you are right! It was a great nod to Jurassic Park.
  4. I remember him saying that in Jurassic Park, but not Independence Day. And I didn't catch it in the book. But I caught another line. It's just one word. Example. Ten bucks and my left nut says that's from Pulp Fiction. Oh, and I was a history major, the headings are in an old Norse language, but I won't say anymore than that. But I didn't know it was a movie line. Very nice!
  5. You got it papadoc! Rick didn't think anyone would get that line. It's just one word, but it's the placement of that word that makes us remember Pulp Fiction.
  6. uh, bobo. papadoc got you on a movie line. He threw in "ten bucks and my left nut" which is john candy's line from "planes, trains and automobiles." Well done, papadoc.
  7. ah ha!! You got it Rick! But I got you Bobo!!
  8. Crap! And I loved that movie, too. Nice job. You should go over to our movie line page and try some more. And give our flash movie game a try on our Game page. Rick aces most of them, but I can only get up in the high teens.
  9. Hello! Great book, one of my favorites. This site is a wonderful addition to the series. I particularly liked the character websites, very clever. Speaking of clever, I found the Chess analogy. It's pretty deep. I play chess every afternoon and picked up on the names right away. But I won't spoil it for anyone else. I read the book a second time, and that's when I noticed how many guards Freya had. That clinched it for me. Nice guys, very nice. Didn't catch any movie lines, except the ones that were explained in the book, but I'm good at clues. And I can't wait to see what Dr. Cynda was working on. What was in that black titanium case? Based on Dr. Cynda's education, I've got an idea, but I'm not telling!
  10. I have to know, why spongebob? I didn't pick up on the chess thing I may have to read it again. I found a mess of movie lines. "we dont have time to discuss this with the committee" which ray says in the plane, thats from star wars! and "where'd you get that" is from my favorite movie of all time, big trouble in little china. I couldnt figure out the headings. can anyone give me a clue?
  11. Hi Bobofan. Okay, here's a hint to figuring out the headings. Papadoc mentioned it was an old Norse language, which of course is because Freya is Norse. Do a search for that, but do the search in Google images. Good luck!
  12. LOL, Bobofan, my son watches that cartoon every single day. So one day at work I started to sing, who lives in a pineapple at the bottom of the sea...and from that day on, my coworkers have called me, spongebob. Plus, my first name is Robert, so that didn't help. by the way, "what?! What will come out no more?!"
  13. great line! i see you are a big trouble in little china fan to! and i figured out the headings, thanks shelly! and i immediately got the movie it was from, i loved that one to!
  14. i see you added a new picture on this page to. i thought the datsun thing was real, just had too many details. he is a better man than me. i am almost thirty and i can't even change my oil!
  15. Awesome name, BoboFan! My brother and I loved ""Big Trouble in Little China," Rick even had Pork Chop Express on his big rig for a while. TennisGod, Rick got very interested in mechanics when he was younger. It was a while before our dad let him back in the garage after the Datsun Incident. That is actually the engine to my Jeep he is working on. I had a great CJ7 that Rick supped up for me. He took out the 4 cylinder and built me a Chevy V8, re-bored this, dual carb that, all kinds of mechanic mumbo-jumbo. The result was a an awesome Jeep that could wheelie! In fact, we sold it to a movie studio, and you can see it in the Chris Rock movie, CB4. It is the jeep the bad guys use to chase Chris Rock's Jeep.
  16. no way! your jeep was in a chris rock movie? I never heard of CB4. But i am going to see if i can rent it! and i have a pork chop express bumper sticker! lol
  17. I saw that movie. CB4 stands for Cell Block 4. He was a wanna be gangster rapper. I don't remember the Jeep, but I think I have that stink-bomb around here somewhere. Probably on VHS! But I wouldn't recommend paying to rent that movie bobofan. As Bobo would say, it was a real nuke!
